  • Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

    Bookwomen will be reading Trevor Noah’s novel “Born a Crime” stories of a South African childhood.  This is an autobiographical comedy  written by Noah who works as a comedian.

  • Saturday Hike & Picnic

    Join us on Saturday October 28th for a member event.  We will meet at the Guilford County side of Lake Mackintosh for a hike and a picnic.  We will meet at 10:00 am for a hike around the lake.  Bring a walking stick and your camera!  At noon we will gather at one of the shelters for a picnic – we ask that you bring a dish to share.  This event is for members, but if you have someone who would like to join, please bring them along.   Click here to sign up!

  • September 27th – Bookwomen

    Join our member book club in September as they read “The Golden Notebook” by Doris Lessing.  The  novel deconstructs the life of Anna Wulf, a sometime-Communist and a deeply leftist writer living in postwar London with her small daughter.  

  • Art and Dinner – Member Opportunity

    The WRC would love for our members to join us on Wednesday September 20th for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship.  We will be meeting at the Alamance Arts for a private tour of the Jill Troutman exhibit.  Jill is a local artist who has been painting in Alamance County for 40 years.  After the exhibit we will travel a short distance to Chapel Hill to dine at the Nantucket Grill. The exhibit is free and each member will pay for their own menu choices.  This event is for members, but if you have a friend who would like to join, please bring them along!  We do ask that you sign up in advance so that we can make reservations.  Follow this link to sign up!

  • August 30th – Bookwomen

    Join our member book club, “Bookwomen” in August as they read and discuss “Make Your Home Among Strangers” by Jennine Capo Cruce.

    A New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, winner of the International Latino Book Award for Best Latio-themed Fiction 2016, Longlisted for the 2015 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize.

  • Dining Out – Member Event

    Join us for a fun filled night with Dining Out.  August 16th at 7:00 pm we will meet at San Marcos Mexican restaurant at Alamance Crossing for a night of fun and good food.  All members are invited to attend.  If you have a guest that would be interested in joining the WRC, please feel free to register them and bring them along!  Click here for more info and to sign up!

  • July 26th – A Man Called Ove

    Join Bookwomen as the read “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman.  Bookwomen is a member group that meets the last Wednesday of each month to read and discuss a novel. Great discussions and lots of fun. Call for more information!

  • Dining Out for June

    It’s time again for our member dining out event.  This month we will be dining at Pandora’s Pies in Elon.  Pandora’s Pies has been a great supporter of the WRC and we would like to show our support by dining out with them!  Join us on Thursday June 15th at 5:30.  All attendees will be responsible for their food and beverage.  Come out for a relaxing evening, meeting new friends and reconnecting.  Click here to sign up now!


  • Bookwomen April 26th

    Bookwomen will meet on April 26th to discuss the novel, “The Cuckoo’s Calling” by Robert Galbraith.  Join us for the suspense of a story about a troubled model that falls to her death from a snow-covered balcony.  Her brother has his doubts about the accident and calls in private investigator Cormoran Strike.  A gripping, elegant mystery!

  • Bookwomen January 2017

    WRC’s book club “Bookwomen” will open the 2017 season with “I am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai.
